The SLB Radio studio is a hub of activity for young people who want to create media, whether they’re interested in music, podcasting, journalism, video making or any other kind of self-expression.

As 2025 draws to a close, we wanted to share about upcoming opportunities for teens happening through SLB in 2026:

Seeking Youth Talk Show Hosts for MLK Day: Students in Grades 6 to 12 are invited to host a live radio talk show as the SLB team presents “Streaming Justice,” their annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day program. They’re looking for hosts for one-hour segments of a live Youth Express webcast focusing on civil rights — past, present and future. Streaming Justice will air LIVE on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026 (MLK Day) from 3 to 6 p.m. from the SLB studios  (located inside the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh on the North Side) and feature 100% teen hosts, topics, conversation, listener phone calls and more.

Find complete details and applications to be a teen host at tinyurl.com/streamingjustice2026. Applications close Jan. 7. SLB will provide training and no experience is needed.

Youth Service Opportunity: The Remake Learning Days Youth Ambassador Program is a paid opportunity for teens to increase awareness, enthusiasm and attendance at Remake Learning Days hands-on learning events. Being a RLD Youth Ambassador is a great way for teens to connect with the community, learn media skills, and build professional experience.

Ambassadors will also earn a stipend of up to $250 for the media products they create and there are openings in all of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties! Students in grades 9 to 12 are welcome to apply — and please spread the word. No experience is necessary, but applicants must live in the state of Pennsylvania. Acceptance is on a rolling basis. Apply at tinyurl.com/RLDYouthAmbassadors2026 by Feb. 13, 2026.
