Trunk or treat: Greater Scranton YMCA inaugural Trunk or Treat, offering families a safe, fun and festive way to celebrate Halloween, Wednesday, 4:30-6:30 p.m., Greater Scranton YMCA, 706 N. Blakely St. The event is free and open to the community. Community members and local businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate by decorating a trunk and handing out candy. Featured concerts: Marywood University Symphony Orchestra concert, Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Sette-LaVerghetta Auditorium, Romantic-era masterpieces featuring Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 and Farrenc’s Overture No. 2 — performed by passionate student and community musicians who love making music; and Northeastern Youth Wind Ensemble Concert, Sunday, 3 p.m., Sette-LaVerghetta Auditorium, affiliated with American Youth Ensembles, offering middle and high school musicians an opportunity to perform with other student instrumentalists. They will perform a variety of repertoire ranging from traditional (transcriptions, marches and works of serious and artistic merit) to cutting-edge contemporary composition and music from popular media venues.

Tiny Tot Terror-ific Dance: Tiny Tot Terror-ific Dance, Oct. 31, 10:30 a.m., Valley Community Library, with two areas so both babies and older toddlers and preschoolers can have fun getting their groove on. Registration is required for age 0-5. Costumes are encouraged; there will be a short parade around the library to show off the costumes. The Tiny Tot Terror-ific Dance is a Pa. Fall craft fair: Maple Lake United Methodist Church annual fall craft fair, Nov. 1, church fellowship hall, 632 State Route 690, featuring more than two dozen vendors. The products are high quality and a great variety is being offered this year. From floral decor, wood and fabric designs to housewares, jewelry, plants, soaps and plushies, there are many new items being offered. Lunch and baked goods will be available to eat in or take out. The Little Shop of Treasures thrift and gift shop will also be open, featuring handcrafted gift items as well as gently used clothing and gift items at low prices.
