Pennsylvania’s all-time passing yards leader Stone Saunders is entering the transfer portal.

The former Bishop McDevitt quarterback revealed Monday that he will move on from the University of Kentucky.

“God’s plan!” Saunders wrote on X above a message about the news from @TransferPortal. On3’s Pete Nakos reported Saunders’ move first.

Saunders was an early enrollee at Kentucky last winter. He did not appear in any games for the Wildcats in 2025.

Saunders capped his final season at Bishop McDevitt with 3,577 yards and 48 touchdowns in guiding the Crusaders to the program’s first PIAA 5A title and third overall. Bishop McDevitt defeated Roman Catholic 34-31 in overtime in the final.

As a four-year starter, the 6-1, 210-pound QB became the state’s career leader in passing yards (13,567), completions (781) and passing touchdowns (204).

He went 52-6 as the Crusaders’ starting QB, leading the program to four District 3 titles and a pair of state titles.

The Pa. Class 5A player of the year also garnered multiple All-State honors in 2024 and was tabbed MaxPreps’ Pa. Player of the Year. He also received the Jim Henry Award from the Maxwell Club as the most outstanding player in the tri-state (Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware) who demonstrates excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
