Penn State football tight end Joey Schlaffer plans to enter the transfer portal on Jan. 2.Schlaffer was removed from the Penn State roster back in early November and is the first Penn State player to leave following James Franklin’s firing. The Reading, Pennsylvania, native has been with the team since 2023 and logged just six appearances in that time. He recorded a 19-yard touchdown against Villanova this year, back in Week 3. With former tight ends coach Ty Howle departing for Virginia Tech, that is a reunion that would make sense for Schlaffer. Penn State cornerback Elliot Washington also announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.
