The state will provide $9.5 million for a new market house on the bayfront.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, joined by state and local officials, announced funding for an economic development project in Erie Friday.
In a press conference along the bayfront, Shapiro announced the commonwealth will provide $9.5 million in funding for a new market house along the west Bayfront.
That is the remaining balance needed to fund the project, Shapiro said.
In addition, a group of Great Lakes governors and Canadian premiers will be in Erie for a conference in 2027.
The conference will highlight development in the area.
The U.S. Brig Niagara will return to Erie next year, Shapiro said.
It will be featured as part of America250 celebrations.
