A Reading woman was fatally struck by an SUV late Friday afternoon on Schuylkill Avenue near her Glenside Homes residence, police said.

Felicita A. Estevez, 45, died of her injuries in Reading Hospital shortly after the midblock crash, according to the Berks County coroner’s office.

She died of multiple injuries, and the death was ruled accidental.

According to the crash report:

A vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Spring Township man was northbound about 5:30 p.m. on Route 183, which is Schuylkill Avenue, traversing the camelback bridge over railroad tracks. While on the downslope, the SUV struck Estevez who was in the right lane between Columbia Street and Avenue B in the dark with a small dog.

It wasn’t clear in the report if she had gone into the road to retrieve the dog before she was struck.
