A familiar sound could soon be silenced in a Montgomery County town. Lower Merion Township commissioners are expected to vote next month on an ordinance that would ban gas-powered leaf blowers. If it passes, the leaf blowers would be outlawed starting next year, from Jan. 1 to March 1 and May 1 to Oct. 1. Violators would get a warning and then face fines starting at $100.
