WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — A new apprenticeship program in Lycoming County aims to boost the transportation maintenance workforce in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s new bus industrial mechanic apprenticeship program  has been in the works since last year.

The goal is to teach someone how to become a bus maintenance technician. Students learn about transmissions, the different types of fuel systems, and more.

Nancy Walker, Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Secretary, says, “This program, at the end of this cohort, people will be able to go right into jobs that are family, with family sustaining wages and benefits, and career trajectories, so it’s a real win for everybody.”
