KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A child rape suspect who was placed on Pennsylvania’s Top Five Most Wanted list was arrested Wednesday in Sevierville.

Pennsylvania State Police had added Maikranz to the state’s Five Most Wanted List. According to a release from U.S. Marshals, Maikranz has a history of offenses against children. He was charged with brutally beating a three-year-old child in 2016 and later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was transported to the Sevier County Jail where he awaits extradition back to Pennsylvania.

“Protection of our children is our most fundamental duty as a society. It is an awesome day when we can take away the freedom of an animal like this who has violated the innocence of young victims,” said Eastern District of Tennessee U.S. Marshal David Jolley. “As a father and grandfather, the crimes this guy has committed are incomprehensible and I especially don’t appreciate that he thought he could run to East Tennessee and hide in his attempt to flee from justice.”

“I would like to commend the deputy U.S. Marshals and the Pennsylvania State Police for their excellent investigative work in tracking down this subject. You can run but you can’t hide. Come here and we will be waiting with handcuffs.”
