Northwell Health, headquartered in New Hyde Park, has expanded into Pennsylvania.
New York’s largest health system has opened its first Pennsylvania practice in Dingmans Ferrywith the launch of the 2,800-square-foot Northwell Health Physician Partners Primary and Immediate Care Center. A second center, in Hawley, is slated to open in the state during the summer of 2026.
Dingmans Ferry is located in Pike County within the Delaware Water Gap. The new Northwell location, slated to begin seeing patients in January, increases access to care in an area with “limited medical resources,” according to the health system.
“Entering Pennsylvania is a new chapter for Northwell,” Dr. John D’Angelo, president and CEO of Northwell Health, said in a news release about the expansion.
“This new center is a direct investment in the health of the Pike County community, driven by our belief that the best healthcare is local,” he said. “We are eager to bring our clinical expertise and patient-centered services to Dingmans Ferry, and we are committed to working alongside residents to listen to their needs and become a reliable healthcare resource for their families and hopefully bring a fresh and unique healthcare experience to Pennsylvania.”
Northwell says the move into Pennsylvania was “strategic.” Pike County was selected as the health system’s first location into the state because of “its rapid growth and its deep ties to the New York-New Jersey metro area,” according to the news release. The health system saw an opportunity to build a presence from the ground up, and grow with the community.
“The blueprint for a healthier community was clear from our work on Staten Island,” Dr. Brahim Ardolic, an executive vice president at Northwell, said in the news release.
“We are bringing that exact same model to Pike County. This center is our first investment in that promise, delivering vital primary and immediate care without the long drive,” Ardolic said.
“We are pleased to welcome Northwell Health to the county and have established a positive partnership over the past several years working together to improve access to healthcare services for Pike County residents and visitors,” Ronald Schmalzle, Pike County commissioner vice-chairman, said in the news release.
“As new neighbors in Dingmans Ferry, we’re not just opening facilities – we’re building relationships and expanding access,” Kevin Beiner, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Northwell, said in the news release. “We’re working with local leaders and residents to meet evolving needs, and we’re committed to delivering world‑class, patient‑centered care with seamless connections across Northwell’s network. Our promise is to be a trusted partner in improving health outcomes for this growing community.”
Medical efforts for the region are being led by Dr. Theodore Strange, regional physician executive for Staten Island at Northwell, with Dr. Michael Mandarano, an established physician in northeastern Pennsylvania, serving as site physician in Dingmans Ferry,
