An adult and child were injured Thursday afternoon when a fire broke out on the upper level of a Southside Easton home.

City Deputy Chief and Fire Marshal Chad Gruver told lehighvalleylive.com flames ignited just after 1 p.m. at the home in the 300 block of Williams Street.

The adult and child managed to escape safely on their own. Two other family members were not home when the blaze broke out.

Crews found flames near the bedroom area on the second floor and worked quickly to extinguish it, Gruver said.

“Fire crews were able to get a hose line through the rear entrance and up the stairs quickly controlling the fire,” he said.

The adult and child were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township for treatment of injuries. Conditions were not immediately available Friday morning.

Fire damage was contained to the bedroom and roof with smoke damage throughout the second floor, officials said.

The cause of Thursday’s blaze remains under investigation by Easton fire officials.
