The Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership celebrated today’s announcement that United Airlines will return to Erie International Airport (ERI) in mid-2026, offering three daily flights to Chicago O’Hare. The news comes just one day after American Airlines announced expanded service to Chicago, signaling renewed confidence in Erie’s air travel market.
United last served Erie in 2023, and its return marks a significant step toward improving connectivity and travel options for the region. “Yesterday, Erie was the winner. Today, consumers are the winners,” said Brandon Mendoza, President and CEO of the Erie Regional Chamber. “United’s return is a powerful sign of Erie’s upward trajectory. Competition and economic development go hand in hand.”
The additional flights will strengthen Erie’s link to a major global hub, offering travelers more convenience and positioning the region for better pricing and improved access for both business and leisure passengers.
This progress reflects ongoing efforts by the Erie Regional Chamber and the Fly Erie Fund, a public-private initiative designed to attract new routes and ensure long-term air service stability. More details on schedules and booking will be released by United and ERI as they become available.
