High winds snap, topple trees in South-Central Pennsylvania

High winds are snapping and toppling trees in some parts of South-Central Pennsylvania.In Spring Garden Township, York County, a large tree ended up in the middle of South Ogontz Street just north of Mount Rose Avenue. You can see that video in the player above. A WGAL viewer shared photos of multiple trees down in the Meadia Heights area just south of Lancaster. We’ve posted those below.Newberry Township Police in York County posted the following public safety notice on their Facebook page:”Due to current high wind conditions, residents are advised to use extreme caution while traveling. High winds have resulted in downed trees, limbs, and debris on roadways throughout the township. Additional hazards may develop with little or no warning,” it says. “Please reduce your speed, increase following distance, and remain alert for obstructions, fallen power lines, and emergency personnel working in the roadway.
