NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) – The Historic Brickhouse Bed and Breakfast, a longtime landmark in the community, officially changed hands last Friday.
The closing marked a significant moment for the town, as the property begins a new chapter under private ownership.
The new owners purchased the main Brickhouse residence along with the replica mine structure located on the grounds. They plan to utilize both as a private residential home, blending modern living with the historic character that has defined the Brickhouse for generations.
The previous owners retained ownership of the five creekside cabins and the treehouse suite, which now exist as a separate listing from the main house and mine. This arrangement ensures that while the Brickhouse itself transitions into a private residence, the cabins and suite remain available for unique guest experiences.
The transaction was not without challenges. The property required a subdivision process to separate the residence and mine from the cabins, and the appraisal proved to be a difficult step in finalizing the sale. Thanks to collaboration and determination, the sale reached a successful close.
Buyers’ agent Courtney Ortz reflected on the process, noting the teamwork and dedication involved:
“This transaction was both challenging and deeply fulfilling to be a part of. Dedication and teamwork kept us moving steadily toward the finish line. Buying a home involves countless tasks, but thanks to everyone pitching in, we made it happen. Grateful for the effort, commitment, and collaboration that turned this vision into reality. So happy for both families and the future they plan to create.”
Listing agent Missy Rupp of RE/MAX Select Realty played a pivotal role in guiding the property through its complexities, ensuring the subdivision and appraisal challenges were addressed and the sale reached the finish line.
The Brickhouse has long stood as a symbol of New Bethlehem’s heritage, welcoming visitors and serving as a reminder of the town’s rich past. Its transition into private ownership represents both an ending and a new beginning—one that honors its history while opening doors to future possibilities.
RE/MAX Select Realty – The Missy Rupp Team is proud to have played a role in this meaningful transaction and looks forward to seeing how the new owners continue the legacy of the Brickhouse.
