MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — One Lackawanna County family is left displaced for the night, after a large tree uprooted and fell onto the home.
The home, on Ralph Ln. in Moosic was occupied when the tree crashed into the roof.
All occupants, including Ralph Sparaney, were able to safely exit the home, unharmed, finding shelter and warmth in a neighbor’s home.
“We’re sitting there getting ready to go make dinner and we heard a big thump. It was a tree from the wind. We heard that and there’s what we came out to. That was all we could say, we don’t know how it happened,” said Sparaney.
The Greenwood Fire Department responded to the call, along with the Moosic Borough Police Department. Fire Chief Chuck Molinaro told FOX56 the fallen tree, and surrounding trees were in bad shape prior to the fall. The Red Cross stepped in to provide overnight housing for the home’s occupants.
“Everything will be alright. It’ll be alright. We’ll be good, it’s all going to work out,” said Sparaney.
