ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Allentown Police Department and Salisbury Township Police Department are joining forces to launch a collaborative traffic safety initiative beginning in January 2026.
The joint enforcement effort will involve multiple coordinated safety details throughout Allentown and neighboring areas of Salisbury Township.
According to officials, the partnership is designed to address rising community concerns regarding dangerous driving.
Police will focus on several key areas, including:
Excessive speedingTraffic signal and stop sign violationsDistracted drivingChild restraint compliancePedestrian safety in crosswalks
Authorities noted that because the two jurisdictions share numerous roadways, the partnership allows for a more comprehensive deployment of resources and an increased police presence. By coordinating personnel, both agencies aim to increase driver compliance and reduce the frequency of crashes.
The initiative is supported by state grant funding. Coordinated enforcement details are scheduled to begin in mid-January.
“Drive safe,” the department shared in a statement. “It could save a life, including your own.”
