Sharon McGinnis
OBITUARY
Sharon McGinnis, 81, of Moosic, passed away on November 9, surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of the Sacred Heart inpatient unit, Dunmore. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Jack McGinnis, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Herman Moss and Kathryn (Holden) Moss Alpaugh and was a proud graduate of South Catholic High School, Class of 1961. Sharon was a passionate history enthusiast, especially fascinated by medieval history. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, quietly reading a good book, crocheting, and working on cross-stitch projects.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Michele (Robert) Parfitt, Erin (Jim) Stanco, Shannon (Robert) Tosolt, and Kathleen McGinnis; a son, Sean McGinnis; ten beloved grandchildren, as well as twenty-four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Grace.
The McGinnis family would like to sincerely thank Bonnie Vosburgh and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and compassion during Sharon’s illness.
Rite of Committal will be held on Monday, December 29, at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Cathedral Cemetery, Oram Street, Scranton.
