READING, Pa. – The sounds of the holiday season also filled the WCR Center for the Arts in Reading.
The Friends of Chamber Music held their seasonal celebration benefit concert Sunday afternoon.
It featured a performance by the Tempered Brass Quintet.
The organization’s executive director told us it’s important for them to make the performances available to anyone who wants to see them.
“We really want our concerts to be available to everybody in the community because we bring in musicians who play all over the world. If you were to go to see their concerts in Baltimore or New York, their concerts would be 40 or 50 dollars a ticket,” said Shari Gleason-Mayrhofer, executive director of the chamber. “We love to be able to present them here, free of cost, anybody who wants to walk in the door.”
That was followed by the new “Chamber Music with Friends” program.
High schoolers spent the day learning now to perform in chamber ensembles.
