Five families got a chance to do some holiday shopping recently thanks to Goodwill Keystone.

Goodwill Keystone hosted “Gift of Joy” events at five of its stores in the region, including the Reading and Robesonia locations in Berks County.

Families were selected at each location to receive shopping sprees, filling reusable tote bags with items they needed, wanted or desired to gift to others for the holidays.

The families — along with five other families — were each also given $200 grocery gift cards.

“Hearing these families’ stories and seeing their smiles reminds us why we do what we do — and that’s serving our local communities,” Andrew Gackenbach, chief mission and operating officer of Goodwill Keystone, said in a release. “Goodwill Keystone was honored to make these families’ holidays brighter. We thank our generous donors for making moments like this possible and for giving your items a second life, avoiding the landfill.”
