GRAMMY-nominated indie rock producer Will Yip is taking his musical passions to a new level.
Yip has opened Memory Music Studios in an undisclosed section of South Philadelphia’s Whitman neighborhood. He aims to establish Philadelphia as a significant hub for chart-topping rock acts.
Growing up in Northeast Philadelphia and studying at Temple University, Yip credits the city’s gritty work ethic and diverse music scene for shaping his collaborative approach to music production.
At 38, Yip has long been based in Conshohocken and has worked with artists such as Lauryn Hill, Panic! At The Disco, the Fray, Turnstile, and Code Orange, earning two GRAMMY nominations for Best Metal Performance.
Memory Music Studios features four studios, three live rooms, two lounges, arcade games, a pool table, and a bar, all designed to attract national acts. According to Yip, the studio is already booked for months.
The studio launch coincides with Yip’s Memory Music label partnership with Run for Cover Records. This partnership has allowed him to release recording projects for Anthony Green and Turnover.
“I was just inspired by bands having to find bigger studios outside of Philadelphia with more resources, more amenities, and more gear,” he said in an interview with PhillyVoice. “I really felt that our scene here is growing and deserves more. I wanted to help give these artists a reason to stay in Philadelphia.”
Turnstile’s 2025 album Never Enough, produced with Yip, has earned GRAMMY nominations across multiple rock, alternative, and metal categories, signaling a rising national profile for Yip’s Philadelphia-rooted work.
