Alex Ludovici scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Scranton to a 56-47 win over Crestwood on Monday night in a nonleague boys basketball game at Scranton.
Tony Battaglia added 14 points, while Max DePietro chipped in 11 for Scranton (3-3). The Knights celebrated coach Tony Battaglia’s 400th victory with a pregame ceremony before securing his 401st win.
Jack Rogers had 16 points for the Comets (6-3).
Riverside 67, Montrose 35: Nico Anoniacci scored 21 of his 30 points in the first quarter to lead the top-ranked Vikings to a nonleague win.
Brayden Rose had 12 of his 14 points in the second quarter as Riverside (7-0) outscored Montrose 51-14 in the first half.
Adam Sorenson led Montrose (1-6) with 11 points.
Valley View 60, Pittston Area 40: In Archbald, Valley View jumped out to a nine-point lead after one quarter and pulled away for the 20-point victory.
Cash Roe led the second-ranked Cougars (7-0) with a game-high 18 points, and teammates Mike Muto and Jagger Roe each finished with 14.
For Pittston Area (4-5), Stephen Barnic and Jacob Ivey each netted nine.
Scranton Prep 52, Liberty 41: Packy Doherty scored 20 points, including 10 in the second quarter, to lead the Cavaliers to a nonleague win.
Brody Martin added 11 points and Charlie Skoff had eight points for Scranton Prep (3-2).
Jake Pukszyn scored 11 points and William Palmer added 10 for Liberty (6-4).
Pocono Mountain West 59, Abington Heights 53: Teddy Stiehler scored 18 points to lead Pocono Mountain West past the Comets in a nonleague game.
Kyon Coles Jr. added 14 points and Aydin Smith had 11 for PM West (8-1).
Andrew Kettel scored 21 points and Jordan Shaffer had 15 for fifth-ranked Abington Heights (4-4).
Mid Valley 66, Wyoming Valley West 43: At Mid Valley, Landon Pratt had 30 points to lead the Spartans to a nonleague win.
Zack Buza had 15 points, and Jeremy Cali added 10 points for Mid Valley (4-3).
AJ Hickson had 20 points for the Spartans (0-9).
Girls basketball
At Wilkes-Barre, Abington Heights pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Wilkes-Barre Area, 55-39, in a nonleague girls basketball game Monday at The Den.
Emma Coleman led the Lady Comets (6-1), who moved into the No. 1 spot this week in The Times-Tribune Top 10 poll, with 15 points. Sydney Pallman added 12 points, 10 of those coming in the second half.
Abington Heights had a 39-32 lead after three quarters, then outscored Wilkes-Barre Area in the fourth, 16-7.
Jaida Underwood had 20 for the Wolfpack. Teammate Jaydalyn Mora finished with 13.
Riverside 48, Montrose 30: At Montrose, No. 9 Riverside jumped out to a fast start to defeat the host Lady Meteors in a nonleague game.
Faith Pavalonis led the Lady Vikes with 23 points. Caitie Beecham added nine points, seven of which came in the first quarter when Riverside (4-3) opened a 17-3 lead.
Molly Weller topped Montrose (2-5) with nine points, all of which came in the second half.
West Scranton 56, Holy Cross 49: At West Scranton, the Lady Invaders placed three players in double figures to win their second straight game.
Mia Tallo scored 20 points, Sahmira Menifee added 18 and Kaitlyn Stynes contributed 11 points for West Scranton (2-5), which used an 18-5 run in the third quarter to overcome a six-point halftime deficit. Tallo and Stynes had seven points each in the quarter.
Mollie Urban led Holy Cross (3-4) with 16 points.
Towanda 53, Elk Lake 44: At Towanda, the host Black Knights led by three at halftime, then outscored Elk Lake in the third quarter, 18-8, en route to a nonleague win.
Brynn Woodruff led the winners with 17 points, including five in the third quarter.
Madisyn Casselbury had 14 points and Kylie Shingler added 12 for the Lady Warriors (1-4).
Boys wrestling
Aidan Tanzini (121), Jason Luce (139), Richard Lord (145) and Ryder Hobert (189) had pins to lead Blue Ridge to a 41-34 win over Pittston Area in a nonleague boys wrestling match.
Brice Woodruff (133) added a technical fall for the Raiders.
Chase Baron (152) and Ethan Aftewicz (160) had pins, and David Krantz (114) and Tibor Toth (127) each added a tech. fall for the Patriots.
