Defending Basketball Super League champions welcome the Lake Erie Jackals to open the 2025-26 season next week

The Sudbury Five have announced the signing of three new players ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season.

The new players include 6-5 guard Mike Okafor, 6-8 forward Emmett Duvall and 6-6 forward Keyshawn Bryant.

Toronto native Okafor finished his university basketball career at Lakehead University in 2023, where he was named team MVP and a Second-Team OUA West All-Star. Okafor averaged 16.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game during his post-secondary career.

He played 16 games with the Hamilton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) after university, and helped the team to a championship.

Okafor then played pro on a few continents, including three games with ABC in Africa and 16 games with Barsy Atyrau in Kazakhstan. He then returned to North America, appearing in 18 games for the Winnipeg Sea Bears of CEBL in 2023 and nine games for the Brampton Honey Badgers in 2024.

As for Duvall, the 6-8 forward from Jamestown, New York, was the team’s third overall selection in the 2026 BSL draft.

“Duvall had a strong showing at the 2026 BSL Combine leading to his selection, along with a great training camp with the Five,” the team said.

Duvall spent the 2024-25 season with the Jamestown Jackals.

“In 30 games, Duvall averaged 6.8 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game,” a Five news release states. “His season high was 21 points on 61.5 per cent shooting against the KW Titans on January 5th. Duvall joins his former Jackals teammate Devante Jamison on the Five roster this upcoming season.”

And finally, the team welcome 6-6 forward Keyshawn Bryant of Winter Haven, Florida to the team for the upcoming season.

Bryant spent multiple seasons in the G League with the Ontario / San Diego Clippers.

“In the 2024/25 NBA G League season, Bryant appeared in 12 games, averaging 8.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game,” the team said. “Along with NBA G League experience, Bryant also appeared in two games for the Niagara River Lions of the CEBL, averaging 7.5 points per game and four rebounds per game off the bench in his first introduction to Canadian basketball.”

Bryant’s collegiate career was spent at the University of South Carolina, where he spent four seasons playing for the Gamecocks, before spending his senior season with the University of South Florida Bulls.

“His marquee season during his time in the NCAA was in 2020-21, where he averaged 14.4 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game for South Carolina. At USF, Bryant’s dunks were featured on ESPN’s SportsCentre five times during the season, including twice at Number 1 on the countdown.”
