HANOVER TWP., Pa. – Many travelers are choosing to fly to their holiday celebrations this year.

A lot of travelers were seen at Lehigh Valley International Airport Tuesday, and a spokesperson says they have yet to hit their busiest travel period during the holidays.

“I’ve had no problems, it’s been great, smooth sailing, great,” said Bethlehem resident Amanda Sanchez, who is flying out of Lehigh Valley International Airport to spend the holidays with family in Austin, Texas.

She came decked out in Christmas pajamas.

“I’m excited. I rolled out of bed today and I said you know what, I’m just going to go to the airport in pajamas and here I am,” Sanchez said.

“So, just looking at our numbers for throughout at our airport, it’s going to be a very busy week,” said LVIA spokesperson Colin Riccobon.

The airport is coming off of its busiest November since 2004.

Riccobon tells us the slowest travel days coming up will be Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

He says if you’re flying, give yourself plenty of extra time, not necessarily for LVIA, but for any other airports you might be passing through.

“The heaviest day for travel will be in between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, probably over 2,500 passengers per day going through our checkpoint,” Riccobon said.

Flights at Philadelphia are running on time and we are seeing some delays at Newark of up to 40 minutes.
