OBITUARY
Nicholas J. Tunis, Jr., 71, of Scranton died Friday, December 12, at home peacefully with his loving and devoted twin sisters Angela Ann and Fannie Fay by his side.
Nicky was never alone. Nickys twin sisters were always with him.
Nick entered the Kingdom of Heaven with St. Mary holding his hand to bring Nick to his Heavenly Home to her beloved son Jesus’ loving arms and to be reunited with Nick’s Mom and Dad, Fannie and Nicholas J. Tunis, Sr., with all the angels and saints. Nick always said, St. Mary Takes Good Care Of Me.
Born in Scranton, Nick was proud to be the son of the late Fannie and Nicholas J. Tunis, Sr., as they were proud to have Nick as their son.
After the death of his father, Nick continued to always take good care of his Mom and twin sisters.
Nick was strong like his Dad Nicholas and both used their strength for doing good.
Nick graduated from Technical High School, Keystone College, and King’s College with Degrees in Accounting and Criminal Justice.
Nick worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. and Harper Collins Publishers.
Nick liked all sports, especially baseball. Nick played third base and was good at what he did. Nick began his baseball at East Scranton. From the start to Little League, Teener League, to Legion League in winning the District II League Championship and Nick and the Team came in second in winning the State Championship Title. Nick liked watching the games on television, listening to the radio, and going to the games in person.
Nick loved his German Shepard Dog of 17 years and his dog loved him.
Nick loved his Mom’s Fannie Homemade Lasagna and his Dad’s Nicholas Homemade Sauce and Meatballs.
A beautiful Mass of Christian Burial and Blessing was held Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.in St. Anthony’s Church, Dunmore, by the Reverend Thomas Dzwonczyk. Also, a private graveside Blessing was held at Dunmore Cemetery by the Reverend Thomas Dzwonczyk with Nick’s twin sisters Angela and Fannie.
We will always remain a God Made Family of Five Unbroken in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
A sincere and heartfelt Thank You to Carl, Kristen, Katie, Katherine, Vanessa, Sid, and Anthony and the entire staff of Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home for their love, support, and caring given to our dear brother Nick and his twin sisters Angela and Fannie.
