It was a resurgent season for Columbia’s football team.

It was a championship season for Twin Valley’s football team.

Players from the Crimson Tide and the Raiders were rewarded handsomely for their gridiron efforts with Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State nods, when the Class 2A, 4A and 6A honorees were released Wednesday.

Columbia’s Chase Marley, in 2A, and Twin Valley teammates Drew Engle, Greyson Miller, Lucas Myers, Ryan Rementer and Ben Grundy, in 4A, all made the list.

It was a slam-dunk for Twin Valley, which won 14 games and played into December, culminating with a trip to the state finals.

That group had plenty of company among the Lancaster-Lebanon League selections: Lampeter-Strasburg kicker Peter Fiorello and Wyomissing’s Justice Hardy, in 4A, and Manheim Township’s Daryus Dixon and Wilson teammates Michael Glover and Jaiden Carpenter, in 6A, were honored.

Football reporters from across the state nominated and then voted for the PFW All-State teams. Ten L-L League players were in tabbed in Class 5A and 3A earlier this week, giving the L-L 21 honorees in all.

Marley had a breakout sophomore season from his linebacker slot for Columbia, piling up 169 tackles and three sacks, helping the Tide win five games and go back to the District 3 playoffs for the first time since 2021 — that on the heels of a 13-game losing streak, as Columbia took an upswing in its program.

Engle, Miller, Myers, Rementer and Grundy were key pieces in Twin Valley’s drive to the Section 4 title, the District 3 crown, and an unforgettable journey all the way to the PIAA-4A state championship game.

Twin Valley fell to Southern Lehigh there, but had its best season in program history.

In Section 4, Engle, who rushed for 2,095 yards with 32 TD runs, was the Outstanding Back and Offensive Back of the Year. Miller was the Outstanding Lineman, Offensive Lineman and Defensive Lineman of the Year. Myers was the Linebacker of the Year. And Grundy was the repeat Receiver of the Year.

Fiorello wrapped up his fantastic career at L-S by going 33-for-36 on PAT attempts with a league-leading nine field goals, including a 46-yarder. He finished his prep career with 194 PAT makes, 29 field goals and 69 touchbacks.

Fiorello is a repeat PFW All-State selection.

Hardy, who recently announced his intentions to transfer to Wilson for his senior year, was also a repeat PFW All-State selection from his defensive back spot. He was the Section 4 Defensive Back of the Year winner.

Dixon, who was selected as an athlete, was Manheim Township’s game-breaker this past season. He hauled in 59 catches for a league-leading 1,138 yards (19.3 yards per grab) with a league-best 16 TD receptions — he also intercepted six passes, including a pick-6, from his defensive back spot — as the Blue Streaks won 10 games and captured the Section 1 championship on the way back to the District 3 semifinals.

Glover, a sure-handed tight end, and Carpenter, the Section 1 Defensive Back of the Year, helped the Bulldogs go to the District 3 semifinals.

Glover, who had 35 catches for 572 yards with seven TD receptions, is a repeat PFW All-State selection. He was the Section 1 Outstanding Lineman and Offensive Lineman of the Year this past season.
