Some businesses along Pittston Ave in Scranton saw folks in half-block-long lines, all waiting to pick up food for Christmas Eve.

SCRANTON, Pa. — This Christmas Eve, along Pittston Avenue in Scranton, there are lines of people, all waiting for the “best bakery in all of Scranton, Pennsylvania, this is the place to go, said Ray Boinske of Scranton.

With a dozen customers inside and dozens of others outside, Lynn Sandy’s bakery was packed full of people eagerly waiting to make their Christmas Eve just a little bit sweeter.

“I think I’m getting that, I think they call it a Christmas log roll, or something like that, so yeah, I just know that this is the best place and that’s where they ordered it from, so I was the gopher to go get it,” said Boinske.

“Best place to buy the snacks for the Christmas Day and Christmas Eve. You get up in the morning, you get a cup of coffee, have some desserts, whatever you want to eat for breakfast, kids love it, we’ve been coming here for years,” said Tom Tierney from Carbondale.

A long line at Lynn Sandy’s during the holidays is nothing new.

“It always is long. During Thanksgiving, the line was the opposite way, but just as long. That just goes to show how good they are,” said Tierney.

Lynn Sandy’s wasn’t the only busy business on Pittston Ave; South Side Seafood’s been seeing crowds for days.

“Majority of us have been here since 6 a.m. already this morning, it’s 9:30 right now, and we’ve already done about a hundred customers. Yesterday was the 23rd, probably our busiest day of the year; the line was down the road, did over 600 customers,” said Ryne Luce, an employee at South Side Seafood.

Customers are all picking up seafood to make their holiday traditions complete.

“Actually, our freezer broke, so we have to come and rebuy everything again, and Christmas Eve is at our house tonight, so we’re going to enjoy it with our family,” said Nick Costantino from Pittston.
