“Stranger Things” has that underdog Hollywood story of being looked over by production company after production company before finally landing a deal and blowing up into a worldwide phenomenon.
The show brought a feeling of ’80s nostalgia, manifested through the exciting cast of lovable and rebellious kids, who band together with friends and family, including their equally rebellious parents, to defeat the monsters from the “Upside Down.”
Five seasons later, the series has developed into a billion-dollar franchise that is the third-most-watched show of all time, according to IMDb. It has created a legacy that will stand the test of time.
One Erie actor became part of that massive legacy when she made her “Stranger Things” debut in the show’s fifth and final season this year.
Warning: Potential spoilers ahead
Callaway Corrick, an Erie girl playing a part in an eerie show, performs an action that proves to be consequential for some of the main cast.
Winter, holiday movies that were filmed in Colorado
Corrick plays Ashley Klein, the classmate of Holly Wheeler, the sister of Finn Wolfhard’s character, Mike Wheeler, who foils an escape plan for children targeted by the series’ main villain, Vecna. She alerts the military to the escape plan after catching Mike and Lucas Sinclair, played by Caleb McLaughlin, in the bathroom, attempting to prevent a water leak that would have alerted the military.
This leads to the capture of the boys and Joyce Byers, played by Winona Ryder.
Because of her actions, Corrick’s character is lovingly deemed the “snitch.”
While her actions do lead to the capture of three main cast members, that action also leads to the big finale of Season 5 Part 1, which has left fans wondering where the story will go after finishing the episode on one of the biggest cliffhangers of the entire series, ahead of the next release of episodes on Christmas Day.
Corrick may return in the last episodes of the series, but due to the classified nature of the show, no one has any idea what will happen tomorrow — will she top her episode-defining role? The world is dying to know.
If you are interested in seeing more of her work, she has also starred in “The Waltons: Homecoming” and “A Waltons Thanksgiving,” which look to be the start of a long and successful career.
