Police are searching for a man who has been charged with shooting and killing two men in Reading in Berks County on Sept. 27, 2025.

The shooting occurred at the 800 block of Nicholls Street at around 5:58 a.m., police said.

The two killed, 25-year-old Victor Urena-Yami and 21-year-old Victor Jimenez, were found unresponsive by police at the entrance of an open garage, police said.

The suspect, 31-year-old Raul Perez-Diaz, arrived at the hospital with injuries from a shooting at around 6:36 a.m., police said.

Perez-Diaz initially told police he acted in self-defense after an altercation with the two men, police said.

However, police say they uncovered witness testimony during their investigation that contradicted Perez-Diaz’s side of the story.

When investigators began to search for Perez-Diaz for more questioning, he told them he would meet them at City Hall in Reading, but never showed, police said.

Perez-Diaz has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of third-degree murder, as well as other related charges, police said.

Anyone who sees Perez-Diaz or has any useful information on his whereabouts is urged to call the Reading Police Department at 610-655-6116 or Crime Alert Berks County at 1-877-373-9913.
