School boards throughout Lackawanna County began a new year earlier this month with reorganization meetings.

Boards reorganized during the first week of December, with board members electing leadership, choosing committee assignments and setting meeting schedules. In addition, board members elected in November were sworn in to their new terms.

The following is a list of presidents, meeting schedules and board members who took oaths.

Abington Heights

Twice a month, typically the first and third Wednesday of the month, 6:30 p.m., except for July, when the meeting is only on the third Wednesday. Warren Acker, president.

Members sworn in were Shannon Kehoe, representing Region 1; Gretchen Henderson, representing Region 2; Anthony Abdalla, representing Region 3, and at-large member Emily Karam.

Carbondale Area

Third Monday of each month except for January, February, May and June. David Osborne, president.

Members sworn in were James Dovin, representing Region 1; Bill Boyle and John “Jigger” Jordan, representing Region 2; and board Vice President Peter Turonis, representing Region 3.

Dunmore

Third Wednesday of the month, work session the Monday before, 6 p.m. No meetings in July or December. Joseph Muracco, president.

Members sworn in were Chris Murray Sr., Joseph Luciano, Amy Haun and board Treasurer Heidi McDonough.

Lackawanna Trail

Regular meetings, second Monday of the month, except for April, September and October, which are on Tuesdays, with work sessions one week prior, 7:30 p.m. Joseph Ross, president.

Members sworn in were Joseph Strauch, representing Region 1; Susanne Green, representing Region 2; and Tracy Wescott and Brendan Dwyer, representing Region 3.

Lakeland

Work sessions, second Tuesday of the month; regular meetings, third Wednesday of the month, 7 p.m. June meeting is third Tuesday and fourth Wednesday. No July meetings. Mark Solomon, president.

Members sworn in were Solomon, representing Region 1; Patrick Gallagher and Bradley Beneski, representing Region 2; and Joseph Sullivan, representing Region 3.

Mid Valley

Old Forge
