DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. (WKRC) – A woman has been charged with the brutal stabbing murder of her daughter.

Diane Grovola, 57, has been charged with the murder of her 23-year-old daughter, Daniele Grovola, and attacking the family’s dog, according to the Upper Darby Police Department.

The stabbing occurred on December 23 at a home on South Bishop Ave. in the Secane area of Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

The father of the victim, who is also the husband of the accused, discovered the scene upon returning home from an overnight shift. According to a criminal complaint obtained by the Delaware County Daily Times, the man found his wife naked, covered in blood, and holding a knife.

She then allegedly confessed to him that she “stabbed our daughter,” while also mentioning that she harmed the dog.

Police reported that Grovola resisted arrest and was subdued with wrist restraints. She allegedly expressed regret, saying, “Sorry, I should have stabbed myself first.”

Emergency medical personnel attempted to save Daniele Grovola, who suffered multiple lacerations, but she was pronounced dead at 7:07 a.m. The family’s dog, found with multiple abdominal cuts, thankfully survived and received veterinary care, according to 6ABC.

Diane Grovola faces charges including first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and aggravated cruelty to animals.

She’s being held without bail at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6.
