An Allentown man is accused of setting a house fire last Friday that resulted in two residents being displaced.
City police said that Julio Rodriguez, 51, of the 700 block of South 10th Street was charged with arson, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
Officers were called to the 700 block of South 10th Street at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 19 for a report of a house fire with a person inside who was experiencing a mental health crisis and was possibly armed.
Police said officers and members of the Allentown Fire Department rescued the occupant. Two officers and the occupant were taken by paramedics to a hospital to be evaluated and are recovering, police said.
The two displaced residents are being assisted by the Red Cross, according to fire department spokesperson Jon Hammel.
