Warren D. Cox

OBITUARY

Lifelong Scranton resident, funeral director, and well-known actor and singer Warren D. Cox, 74, died on December 10, 2025. He had been in poor health for some time. He was born in Scranton December 16, 1950 to Fred W. and Jeanne W. Cox, both deceased.

He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and the American Academy of Funeral Service in New York City. He also attended Penn State University.

He was well-known as a singer in a number of local churches and musical performances and acted and sang in more than a hundred musical and non-musical plays throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. He was also a noted painter of Scranton’s historical buildings, referring to himself as an urban memorialist. He had several one-man shows of his works.

He is survived by a brother Dr. Fred A. Cox and his wife Margaret of Colorado Springs, two nephews Hans Cox also of Colorado Springs, Jeff Cox of Lebanon, New Hampshire, and a niece Elizabeth Vieira of San Carlos, California, as well as five grandnieces and nephews.

Interment will be private at Forest Hills Cemetery, Dunmore, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested for St. Cats and Dogs, Inc. of Scranton.
