Joan M. Odell
OBITUARY
Joan M. Odell, 85, of Pittston Township, most recently a resident of Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Scranton died Tuesday morning, Dec. 23, 2025, surrounded by family in Geisinger CMC Hospital, Scranton after a brief illness. Her husband, Allison R. Digger Odell, to whom she was married to for 40 years, preceded her in death on July 24, 1998.
Born in Wilkes Barre on May 27, 1940, she was the daughter of Oscar and Jessie Tripp Ayers. She was a graduate of Falls-Overfield High School and worked in the garment industry as well as being self-employed as a house keeper.
She was a member of Moosic United Methodist Church and was a member of the Avoca Community Choir for many years.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Odell and wife, Christine, and daughter Cathy Posluszny and husband, Marvin, all of Dupont. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Alison (Donald) Hudzinski, Jessica (Jack) Lewis and Kevin (Kerri) Odell and two great grandchildren, Michael and Julie Hudzinski, all of Dupont. Joan is survived by a sister-in-law, Eleanor Odell, Duryea.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Donna Odell and a sister, Virginia Dickinson.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Geisinger CMC and Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation for their care of Joan.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday from the Lokuta-Zawacki Funeral Home 200 Wyoming Ave. Dupont with interment in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Friends may call Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m.
