ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — No matter what happens the rest of the way, the Eagles cannot finish worse than the 3-seed in the NFC.
That became official on Sunday afternoon when the Panthers lost to the Seahawks 27-10. Had the Panthers won their remaining two games, there was a chance the Eagles could have slipped to the 4-seed.
While it’s very likely the Eagles will finish with the 3-seed in the NFC, there is still one path for them to get the 2-seed. The Eagles would need to win-out, beating the Bills and Commanders in Week 18 and would need the Bears to lose-out.
The Bears are in San Francisco on Sunday Night Football in Week 17 and host the Lions in Week 18.
The Athletic’s playoff simulator has the Eagles’ chances of getting the 2-seed at just 11% before their game against the Bills.
The Eagles were the second seed last year when they went on their run to win Super Bowl LIX. The top four seeds in each conference are reserved for division winners. The Eagles won the NFC East for the second straight season this year.
