High winds are causing travel restrictions in Erie County, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) on Monday.
PennDOT has temporarily banned certain vehicles on Interstates 86 and 90. The restrictions apply to I-86 from the I-90 interchange to the New York state line, and I-90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.
Under Tier 1 of the state’s weather event plan, vehicles like empty tractor-trailers, RVs, motorcycles, and buses are not allowed on these roads.
The goal is to keep the highways open and safe during the storm. PennDOT said it will lift the restrictions once conditions improve.
