FBI Pittsburgh-led operation leads to arrest of 19 ‘dangerous’ fugitives

FBI Pittsburgh, along with local, state, and federal partners, arrested 19 “dangerous wanted fugitives” during a five-day operation as part of a nationwide initiative targeting violent crime. In a release Saturday, officials said between Oct. 6 and 10, FBI Pittsburgh, the United States Marshals Service, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit partnered together to “identify targets, collect intelligence, conduct investigative analysis,” and make multiple arrests. The release said while the primary focus of the operation was on the western Pennsylvania region, the arrests connected to this effort took place as far away as North Carolina and Kansas. One person, according to the release, was arrested by USMS in Kansas City, KS, with an outstanding federal arrest warrant for allegedly sexually assaulting two underage women who were in his care. Another person who was wanted out of Allegheny County for stalking, harassment, and being physically violent against his ex-girlfriend was arrested by the FBI in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, NC.In total, 19 individuals were taken into custody. The offenses they were arrested for include drug trafficking, sexual battery of a child, human trafficking, and terroristic threats. As part of the operation, the FBI Pittsburgh SWAT team was deployed to an address in Penn Hills. They did not provide the specific reason as to why they responded to the area. The release said the operation also resulted in the seizure of three firearms and multiple narcotics and drugs. “Law enforcement at all levels shares the same goal: protect the communities we serve. This operation proves our commitment to that mission,” FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Kevin Rojek said in the release. “It does not matter if you’re in Western Pennsylvania, across the United States, or anywhere else in the world, the FBI and our partners will find you and will bring you to justice. We take Crushing Violent Crime to heart, and we will not stop.”
