SCRANTON — Jaelyn Alers had a rough shooting night, missing 14 of her first 16 shots.
She never lost confidence, however, and when Scranton needed her, the junior came up clutch.
Alers hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to give the Lady Knights their first lead as they rallied for a 50-49 victory over Dunmore in the championship game of the 22nd Lynett Memorial Girls Basketball Tournament on Monday night at the Lackawanna College Student Union.
Chrissy Jacklinski scored a game-high 24 points for Scranton (3-6), which overcame a 15-point deficit early in the second quarter to win its second Lynett title — the other came in 2023.
Alers finished with nine points and Rhylee Bell had eight for the Lady Knights.
Leena Conte led Dunmore (6-2) with 17 points. Michelle Nidoh added 11 and Amanda Dempsey totaled nine points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.
Jacklinski was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. Alers and Dempsey were selected to the all-tournament team along with Chole Mamera of Scranton Prep and Ava Schmidt from Holy Cross.
Scranton Prep defeated Holy Cross in the consolation game, 53-22.
