As for Edwards, he is in his fifth OHL season after originally being selected in the eighth round of the 2021 OHL draft by Erie. He appeared in 187 career OHL games for Erie, recording 60 goals and 76 assists for 136 points.
Back to Headrick, he skated in 51 games with Kitchener, recording three goals, four assists, seven points over parts of two seasons. He had three assists in 32 games this ’25-’26 season with the Rangers.
Headrick missed much of his ’24-’25 OHL rookie season due to injury. He is known for his scrappy nature and willingness to play in traffic despite his size. He is the younger brother of former Otters defenceman Owen Headrick, who was part of Erie’s 2017 OHL championship team that lost to the host Windsor Spitfires in that year’s Memorial Cup title tilt.

Erie general manager Dave Brown had plenty good to say about the acquisition of the younger Headrick.
“Evan comes from a family with deep roots here in Erie. We believed in him throughout his draft year. He brings skill, creativity, and a high ceiling, and we are thrilled to have him join our group as we continue to build,” relayed Brown.
Erie also receives Kitchener’s fourth-round pick in 2029 as part of the trade.
Headrick made his debut with the Otters just before the Christmas holiday break and scored a goal — his first of the season — and added an assist to help lead Erie to a win over the Sarnia Sting.
