A 36-year-old Blakely man faces charges after police said he struck his father with a golf club on Friday night.

Police responded to 401 Virginia Ave. at 8:54 p.m. on a report of a disorderly male — later identified as Christian Paparelli — in the home and heard yelling coming from the residence, according to the criminal complaint.

Officer Evan Pratt looked through a window and observed two males in an active struggle, with one male on the floor, police said.

The door was locked, so police forced entry into the home and placed both men in handcuffs, according to the criminal complaint.

Christian Paparelli had a small cut on his hand and the other man — identified as Gerald Paparelli — had two large cuts on his abdomen that required medical attention on scene, police said.

Officers removed Gerald Paparelli’s handcuffs after determining he was not the assailant, according to the criminal complaint.

Gerald Paparelli told officers his son, Christian, took medical marijuana earlier in the day and started repeatedly saying, “Nobody believes me, they are coming,” police said.

Christian Paparelli had thrown a glass of water across the room and then broke a window with a golf club, Gerald Paparelli told officers, according to the criminal complaint.

Gerald Paparelli told officers that when he attempted to grab his son to prevent him from damaging anything else, Christian Paparelli struck him with the club, breaking it, police said.

Additionally, Gerald Paparelli said they rolled around on the ground near the broken window after the assault, and he was unsure if his cuts were caused by the glass or the broken golf club handle, according to the criminal complaint.

Christian Paparelli refused to answer any questions from officers at the scene, police said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 13 at 9:30 a.m.
