Marguerite Killeen Eagen
OBITUARY
Marguerite Peggy Killeen Eagen, 88, formerly of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Eagen Jr., and they shared nearly 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2019.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Peggy was the oldest of four children of local surgeon Dr. Thomas T.G. Gore Killeen and Marguerite Murphy Killeen. She was a graduate of Marywood Seminary High School and Marymount College, Tarrytown, New York. Early in her career, Peggy worked as a kindergarten teacher in the Scranton School District.
Later, she served as HR Director at First Hospital Wyoming Valley, where she was known for her professionalism and personal touch.
Peggy was a longtime member and sustainer of the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre, a member of the Westmoreland Club, and a parishioner of St. Ignatius Church. An avid tennis player, she and her family maintained a cherished summer home in Pocono Manor for many years.
Known for her warmth and effervescence, Peggy deeply valued her lifelong friendships and especially loved spending time with friends from her school years. She remained actively involved with the Marywood Seminary alumni community, taking great pride in maintaining those connections throughout her life.
In addition to her husband, Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Mary Lou McDermott, Gayle Davis, and Constance Killeen; her sister-in-law Mary E. McDonald; her brothers-in-law Donald J. Eagen and James L. Eagen; and her son Joseph A. Eagen III.
She is survived by her children: Thomas (Megan) Eagen of Kingston; Katherine (William) Thornton of Wyomissing; John (Maureen) Eagen of Philadelphia; and Robert (Jennifer) Eagen of Los Angeles, California, as well as eight grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Debbie Shaver for her devoted care, compassion, and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in honor of Mrs. Eagen to the prescription assistance fund for cancer patients administered by Medical Oncology Associates (MOA RX Fund).
