There is an argument that Saturday is the biggest game of Syracuse’s season. The Orange is fighting for bowl eligibility, and, in this particular week, looking to avoid a three-game losing streak.
On top of that, the Orange would fall below .500 for the first time since Week 1 with a loss Saturday. But what makes Saturday so paramount is its importance to recruiting.
Syracuse is on the prowl right now. The Orange is hosting no shortage of recruits Saturday, including more than a few blue chippers. Perhaps the most important ones, both at the JMA Dome and watching at home, are the recent decommits at Penn State.
James Franklin’s firing reopened the market for a lot of talent in the Northeast, many of which held Syracuse offers. Now, Fran Brown and his staff are aiming to arrange visits and add to Syracuse’s highly anticipated 2026 and 2027 classes.
As it pertains to Syracuse’s current roster, though, Saturday’s game will recenter focus on quarterback Rickie Collins. Saving the Orange’s season will ultimately come down to his improvement. If things don’t get better, it’ll resume the social media calls for freshman Luke Carney.
