Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania will become the highest-paid governor in the United States on New Year’s Day.Shapiro’s salary will jump to nearly $284,000. He will surpass New York’s Gov. Kathy Hochul, who made $250,000 last year. The 3.3% raise is part of a state law mandate of automatic pay increases for elected officials, heads of departments, and members of boards and commissions. This means Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, Attorney General Dave Sunday, and others will receive the same roughly 3% increase.

Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania will become the highest-paid governor in the United States on New Year’s Day.
