The city of Pittsburgh has entered its winter weather operations to respond to snow falling on New Year’s Eve and into New Year’s Day. The Public Works Department announced crews will be clearing steps, sidewalks, and bridge walkways by hand starting at 6 a.m. Thursday. They are also urging people not to travel unless it’s necessary and avoid parking on the street when possible.There will be a special response team in place for First Night celebrations in Downtown Pittsburgh.
