ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men’s swimming & diving team hosted both the University of Scranton and Hartwick College for a season-opening meet inside Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. The Bombers were in top form as they defeated Scranton by a score of 206-88 and bested Hartwick, 210-89.
Senior Kian Long put together an outstanding performance winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. He began his afternoon putting together a dominant display on the 3-meter to run away with a finals score of 304.70. Long would then win on the 1-meter boards by 90 points with his performance of 281.95 over Scranton’s Tim Hause.
The Bombers were able to win both relays as the team of Alec Kutsner, Will Stanczewski, Matthew Mitros and Spencer Alderson set the tone for the meet with their 200-yard medley winning time of 1:34.21. IC would also win the 200-yard freestyle relay as Spencer Alderson, Ryan Cooke, Matthew Mitros and Alec Kutsner put together a combined time of 1:26.83.
Overall, Ithaca would then see six other individual victories in the pool with Ryan Cooke winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.63), Alec Kutsner in the 100-yard backstroke (52.60), Spencer Alderson in the 50 free (21.75), again in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.13, Cooke then won again in the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.20) and first year Ben Lajoie added a victory in the 200-yard IM with a recorded time of 2:01.88.
