German traditions take center stage at Reading Liederkranz to celebrate new year | Reading Area

L. ALSACE TWP., Pa. – It was a German New Year’s Eve celebration in Berks County.

Dave Kline brought the live tunes at the Reading Liederkranz in Lower Alsace Township on Wednesday night.

The club’s New Year’s Eve celebration was completely sold out.

People came out for the delicious food, traditional music and, of course, the big pretzel drop.

Each year, the pretzel is lowered at 6 p.m. to celebrate the start of the new year in Germany.
