A juvenile riding a scooter was killed when a minivan struck him Wednesday evening in Salisbury Township, according to Pennsylvania State police.

The crash happened on Churchtown Road south of Mast Road just before 6 p.m. according to state police.

The boy was heading south on Churchtown when a Dodge Caravan failed to pass with enough space and struck the boy from behind, throwing him from the scooter, police said.

The boy was taken to Reading Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The crash is being investigated and further information was not available Thursday.
