Peter (Pete) James Mooney, III
OBITUARY
Peter (Pete) James Mooney, III, 76, of Dunmore, died peacefully on Tuesday, surrounded by his family. Born on March 4, 1950, Pete was the son of the late Peter James Mooney, Jr. and Ann Theresa McNulty Mooney.
Pete was a former Army reservist and enjoyed a long and successful fifty-year career as a car salesman in Scranton. Throughout his life, he was an avid motorcyclist and rode many times with friends to Florida, South Dakota, and hundreds of places in between. Pete loved to hunt and fish, and some of the happiest times of his life were spent fishing at the Dunmore Reservoir with his father and two brothers. He also loved watching westerns, both old and new, and never met a dog he couldn’t befriend, adopting many over the years. As many know, he was devoted to his beloved German Shepherd, Quincy.
Pete is survived by his son, David Mooney of Dunmore; his daughter, Patricia Mooney Petula, and her husband Jason of Hershey; his two grandsons, Wyatt Petula and Alexander Petula; his sisters, Mary Lou Trauger and her husband Bud of Factoryville, and Kathleen Sabato and her husband Peter of Olyphant; his brother, Charles Mooney and his wife Mary Ann of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele E. Mooney Frisbie, and his brother, John P. Mooney.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Geisinger Community Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to Pete.
