AND WHILE WE’RE STILL WAITING TO HEAR ENFORCEMENT RESULTS FROM THE BUSY NEW YEAR’S EVE PERIOD, PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE SAY OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY TRAVEL PERIOD, THERE WERE MORE THAN 1000 CRASHES, WITH DOZENS OF THEM INVOLVING IMPAIRED DRIVING FROM CHRISTMAS EVE THROUGH DECEMBER 28TH. TROOPERS INVESTIGATED 1007 CRASHES STATEWIDE. SIX OF THOSE WERE FATAL. 53 INVOLVED IMPAIRED DRIVING. THERE WERE ALSO 270 TO 207 EXCUSE ME DUI ARRESTS, 1502 SPEEDING CITATIONS, 155 SEATBELT CITATIONS, AND ABOUT 4200 OTHER TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS. AND WHILE NEARLY EVERY REPORTED METRIC WAS UP COMPARED TO CHRISTMAS IN 2024, WE CAN’T REALLY COMPARE THEM. A STATE POLICE RECORDED THOSE RESULTS OVER THREE DAYS, COMPARED TO FIVE DAYS THIS YEAR. Pennsylvania State Police report over 1,000 crashes during Christmas travel period

Pennsylvania State Police reported that during the Christmas holiday travel period from Christmas Eve through Dec. 28, troopers investigated 1,007 crashes statewide, with six of these being fatal and 53 involving impaired driving.In addition to the crashes, there were:207 DUI arrests1,502 speeding citations155 seat belt citations4,200 other traffic violationsWhile nearly every reported metric was up compared to Christmas 2024, the results are not directly comparable as the previous year’s data was recorded over three days, compared to five days this year.The results also do not include crashes and arrests that occurred at the local city or township level, where state police were not involved.
