Two baby boys in our area were welcomed into the world on New Year’s Day.
DANVILLE, Pa. — Hospitals in our area are celebrating the arrival of New Year’s babies.
Kyra Carl and Lucas Bates welcomed Owen Charlee Bates at 2:38 a.m. Thursday at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville.
Owen is 8 pounds, 5.9 ounces, and 20 inches long. He joins older siblings Devin, Arthur, and Esmae.
Congratulations to the Bates family on their newest New Year’s addition.


In Scranton, Commonwealth Health Moses Taylor Hospital welcomed baby Luis at 12:54 a.m. Thursday.
Luis measured 20 inches long and 6.7 pounds. He was born to proud parents, Destiny and James of Scranton, marking a joyful start to the New Year.


Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton also welcomed its first baby of 2026.
Concise Midnight Tahji was born to Cashay Clarke and Christian Tahji of Blakely at 2:17 a.m. on Thursday.
Concise measured 21 and 3/4 inches and weighed 7 pounds, 12.2 ounces. He is the couple’s second child.
Congratulations to this family on their new little bundle of joy.
