Three hockey players from the Pittsburgh area have been selected for Team USA in this year’s Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina. Among the selected, New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck. Trocheck is from Upper Saint Clair and was drafted in the third round by the Florida Panthers during the 2011 NHL Draft. Trocheck is a two-time NHL All-Star game participant. In addition to the Rangers and the Panthers, Trocheck has played for the Carolina Hurricanes. Goalie Ava McNaughton was also selected for Team USA. McNaughton, from Seven Fields, is a goalie who played for the University of Wisconsin. She has skated for the US at the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship, where the team won gold, represented Team USA at the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship and served in net for the 2024 U.S. Collegiate Select Team during the Six Nations Tournament. McNaughton has one NCAA National Championship under her belt. Another New York Ranger is also on Team USA’s list. J.T. Miller, while born in East Palestine Ohio, played youth hockey in Pittsburgh. The forward was drafted 11th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2011 NHL draft and named to his first NHL All-Star game in 2023-2024. In addition to the New York Rangers, Miller has played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Vancouver Canucks.
